About The Vessel

 Your accommodation will be on board the MS Esmeralda, River cruising is an increasingly popular way to discover more from your destination, sailing from place to place in comfort without the inconvenience of packing and unpacking each night. The Ms Esmeralda is a comfortable vessel decorated in traditional Dutch Style, and the facilities include a restaurant on the main deck, a old Dutch Lounge and 63 two berth cabins with telephone, TV, mini safe and en-suite shower room with WC.

Your Seven Day Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Early afternoon departure from local area, journey to North Shields Port Newcastle. Once you arrive at the port the coach will drop you of right outside DFDS check-in area. Once checked in and through passport control you can board onto the DFDS ferry. The ship departs Newcastle at 5pm for overnight sailing to Amsterdam and once on board you can enjoy a range of wonderful entertainment whether you are looking for a relaxing drink and to watch the entertainment in the Columbus Bar or if you want to catch a film in the cinema the ship has a wide choice to choose from.

Day 2: Arrive in Amsterdam early morning, once you disembark the DFDS Ferry and go through passport control rejoin the coach and we journey into the centre of Amsterdam for free time at leisure. Rejoin the coach later in the afternoon and journey to the MS Esmeralda for embarkation. At 5pm, the ship will head out onto the Markermeer, one of two freshwater lakes created when the Zuider Zee was drained, and dinner will be served as we enjoy the passing scenery. This evening's mooring will be in the charming resort of Volendam.

Day 3: The ship sets sail early this morning to travel south along the Amsterdam-Rijn Canal to the medieval city of Utrecht, before cutting onto the Neder Rijn to head inland. Enjoy a lovely day's sailing though the picturesque Dutch countryside, with plenty of time to relax on board and enjoy the comfortable surroundings. A late afternoon arrival is scheduled into the historic city of Arnhem, most famous for the Battle of Arnhem in WW11, in which Field Marshal Montgomery ordered three Airbourne Divisions to be parachuted behind enemy lines.

Day 4:Rejoin the coach today for full day excursion while the vessel remains moored in Arnhem. We start the day by visiting the Airbourne Museum 'Hartenstein' in the nearby village of Oosterbeck. It displays an extensive collection of Military artefacts relating to the Battle of Arnhem, and uses state-of-the-art audiovisual technology. Close by is the Airbourne Cemetery, where around 2,000 of the fallen British and Polish  paratroopers were laid to rest. Rejoin the coach late morning and we travel onto the Floriade, The Floriade is only staged every ten years in Holland and is an unique and unmissable event,. Floriade is much more than a garden festival and flower show, it is a state of the art showcase for the very latest trends in gardening, horticulture and the environment, with countless innovative attractions and activities awaiting your visit. Rejoin the coach late afternoon for journey back to the MS Esmeralda.

Day 5: This morning we make a early departure from Arnhem, enjoy your breakfast been served on board as the vessel sails along the scenic River Waal, arriving back into Amsterdam mid afternoon, Rejoin the coach and we journey into Amsterdam for free time at leisure. Rejoin the coach later in the afternoon for journey back to the MS Esmeralda to get ready for the Captain's special farewell dinner.

Day 6: After breakfast disembark the vessel and rejoin the coach and we journey to the historic city of Delft. Delft is a beautiful, unspoiled town with traditional architecture, canals, bikes, and the world famous blue and white ceramics. Enjoy free time at leisure to explore the city before rejoining the coach to journey to Ijmuiden port to board the DFDS Seaways ferry for overnight sailing back to Newcastle.

Day 7: We arrive in Newcastle early morning, once you disembark the ferry and go through passport control, Stacey’s Coaches will be waiting for you. Once all passengers have rejoined the coach we will begin our journey back to local area, arriving late morning.
